German Airy Tales, 2023
BookFair, Kunstverein Hamburg, DE
This dialogue reading explores the biographies of Robert Pilatus and Mabel Grammer and their impact on Afro-German history and social environments. Pilatus gained notoriety as a member of Milli Vanilli, a pop duo but their journey was marked by controversy. Grammer played an integral role in the "Brown baby plan," which arranged the adoption of mixed-race children in post-war Germany. Both biographies illustrate the concepts of black identity in action and the impact of societal notions of race and identity. The music genre Schlager and Farian's choices regarding Milli Vanilli's aesthetic and exoticism also reflect societal notions of race and identity. These figures remind us of the power of identity in shaping experiences and society.

Kartoffel Jazz, 2023
Print Zine
Kartoffel Jazz is a loose conversation, an abstract that delves into the interconnections between music, culture, and politics in Germany and the United States. The written conversation dives into a range of topics and references, from the movie "Soul Man".
The conversation expands on the establishment of diplomatic German institutionst through music export, its ambiguous soft power, and the impact of African American US soldiers and North American music on German society.
